This course will be so that you can fit through most gates sideways if need be.

If it is like a tour you get to dodge several of these beast as we will be letting them out in hopes that they catch each other. There is no cone management during CP runs. A downed cone stays down.

Life's good Darren. There is a lot of opportunity here in Houston. I'm glad to see you're racing again. I haven't autocrossed in almost 2 years. I'm just not motivated to make the time I guess. I'm trying to change that so I can make some events. The kids and the business occupy too much of my time to do much but I'd like to at least make 4 or 5 events a year. I really should look into some track days since MSR is only 20 minutes from my house.
BTW Doug, I don't have first hand knowledge of Todd's "expertise", but his co-driver is always so happy he must at least know to mind his teeth

I had to leave the fun for a few years myself as the family took priority. I am glad to be back but miss allot of the old gang. When I started it was George, Jose, Hassan, you, Mason, Chip, Christi, etc, etc. About the only one left is Benson and he doesn't have .0000001% of the personality of the above mentioned group.
We do have Matt and Joe now though

"Turbo" may have meanings we haven't explored yet...or perhaps the distinction "between turbocharged" and "blown" will aquire further delineation....
In any case it would be great to see you and Todd, or even....Ken...over here for a Divisional.

Okay, I still don't really get what the SW Divisional is going to be other than a wide open event with tons of participants autoXing for 2 days with some trophies on the line?
How much will it cost, etc?
Also, (not to thread crap) do TLACs cost more to participate in than regular AutoXs?

The Southwest Division of the Sports Car Club of America (known as "Area 7") is made up of 10 separate SCCA regions in the Southwestern part of the U.S. Our purpose is to provide an information source for members of all the regions contained herein, with special attention being paid to the volunteer Club Racing Officials, whom we could not conduct Club Racing events without.
Racers from all over the state of Texas and Louisiana come together for Club Racing events and many regional autocrossers cross-pollinate to other regions outside there own. We hope to foster this behavior and increase the opportunities to members and regions of this division.
Solo II Divisional Events in the Southwest Division typically happen in the summer months and are each organized by a "host region". Any region in the Southwest Division can host a Solo II Divisional and all Solo II competitors from all of the 10 regions that make up the division are invited. To win a Divisional event is to be the best autocrosser in the 10 regions.
What's so special about Divisionals?
* You compete against other autocrossers from around the entire Southwest Division
* You can guage your skill level against folks you don't normally get to run against
* They can help you prepare for National-caliper events
* They are two-day events with a big party (usually) on the Saturday night of the Saturday-Sunday events
* Compete for Divisional trophies
* Compete for special year-end Divisional Championship awards and trophies.
* You get to meet new people
* Have a great time

To add to what Kerry said (quite well, I might add!), a Divisional or Tour is a "competitive event" whereas a Regional event is simply a "social event."
What I mean is that, at a Regional event, everyone is friends and you've already got a pretty good idea of where you stack up as a driver. Therefore, the event is less about absolute competition (who buys a new set of tires for every Regional event?) and more about seeing friends and having fun driving your car fast.
At a Divisional or Tour, everybody is on their "A" game. Yeah, there's still some kidding around, but people are busy ensuring that every last nut and bolt is tight, adjustment is perfect and doing their little pre-race rituals. Everyone is competitive and trying to get that list little bit out of their car and themselves.
Of course, it's still all fun. The party is a blast. When people's classes aren't running, it's goofing as usual. They're a blast!
